Palestra Jiu-Jitsu Rules & Regulations 

At Palestra Jiu-Jitsu, we promote a safe and respectful training environment. Our rules promote discipline, hygiene, and mutual respect on the mats. Following our guidelines is essential for a positive experience. Together, we build a supportive a positive community that encourages growth in our academy.

General Conduct

1. Respect Others: Treat instructors, training partners, and staff with respect at all times.

2. No Disruptions: Maintain a quiet and focused environment during classes. Avoid talking while the instructor is speaking.

3. Positive Attitude: Approach training with a positive mindset, and support your teammates.

4. Encouragement for Independence: We encourage parents to allow their children to train independently during class. This helps foster confidence and self-reliance in their training.

5. No Parents on the Mats: To ensure a focused training environment for the students, we ask parents not to enter the mat area at any time. 

Hygiene and Uniform

6. No Shoes on the Mats: Remove your shoes before stepping onto the training mats to keep them clean. All slippers and personal items should be placed in designated areas away from the training space.

7. Personal Belongings: Keep personal items, such as phones, off the mats to avoid disturbing the class.

8. Flip-Flops Required: When exiting the mat area, especially when going to the restroom, please wear flip-flops or appropriate footwear to maintain hygiene.

9. Clean Gear: Always train in clean gear, including gis or training attire, to ensure a hygienic environment for everyone.

10. Trimmed Nails: Keep your nails trimmed and clean to prevent cuts that may lead to skin infections.

11. Stay Home if Sick: If you are feeling unwell or exhibiting any symptoms of illness, please do not attend class to protect the health of your training partners and instructors.

Safety and Discipline

12. Tap Out: Always tap out when you are caught in a submission to ensure safety for yourself and your partner.

13. Practice Control: Train with control, especially during sparring sessions. Avoid using excessive force.

14. Respect Training Levels: Be mindful of your partner's skill level and adapt your training accordingly.

15. Permission to Enter/Exit the Mat: Always seek permission from the instructor to enter or exit the mat area during class. If you need to leave for any reason, do so quietly and return only when appropriate.

Attendance and Participation

16. Punctuality: Arrive on time for classes. If late, wait for an appropriate moment to enter the class without disrupting.

17. Stay Engaged: Actively participate in all drills and exercises, and ask questions if you need clarification.

Behavior and Feedback

18. Constructive Feedback: Give and receive feedback respectfully. Focus on improvement rather than criticism.

19. Follow Instructor Guidance: Listen to and follow the instructions of your coaches and instructors.

Various

20. No Bullying or Harassment: Any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated.

21. Social Media: Respect the privacy of your teammates and instructors when posting on social media. Always ask for permission before sharing photos or videos.
